Intro to Maggie Stroop

Today I began Maggie's page. You can click on any image to make it larger. I don't seem to have photos of Maggie or Hayes in their younger days. Anyone have any they would be willing to share?

Final entries-RBH Stroop

Have added the final entries for RBH. These were from his last three children - Violet, Bertie and Doris - and two of his grandchildren - Bobbie Ann (Violet's daughter) and Willard (Hester's son). The next page of memories will be for Maggie.

I was talking to Bobbie Ann last night and she verified that Violet was the one who put together this project and typed up everyone's memories. So, although the words were from each person's heart, the spacing and such were from Violet.

Thank you, dear Aunt Vi, for thinking of the project and putting it all together. Love the stories!

New entries-RBH Stroop

Added memories of RBH from Ethel and Hayes. I tried to transcribe exactly as everyone wrote. Some I did make new paragraphs to make it easier to read. Otherwise, it's their spacing, words and punctuation.

First entries-RBH Stroop

Well, did a little editing. Moved RBH's info to it's own page. (Sorry Chaque, the comments didn't move with them so our comments are gone. You can always add more though :-) ). That is where I will put the memories. So, each person in the family will have a page of their own...note the tabs across the top of each page.

WHY?

I started this blog in order to publish memories written by family members of Rutherford Burchard Hayes Stroop and Margaret Hester "Maggie" (Small) Stroop. 

On July 6, 1956, this Stroop family had a family reunion. It was held at the Motor Court of Mr. and Mrs. Horace O'Connor, friends of the family, in Calistoga, Napa County, California. The date, July 6, 1956, would have marked the 58th wedding anniversary of Hayes and Maggie, who passed away in 1951 and 1947, respectively. During this reunion, daughter Violet "Vi" requested that their seven children, and any of their grandchildren who wanted to, write of their memories of Hayes, Maggie and their children. Vi typed and compiled the memories into a set of over 65 pages.

I am starting this blog with transcriptions of those memories. The originals were given to me in July 2010 by my cousin, another granddaughter of Hayes and Maggie. A short introduction and a few photos will be added for each person. I hope to add transcription posts a couple of times a week so please come back once in a while to see new posts. Please bear with me as blogging is new to me and I am learning as I go along.

I am hoping other family members will comment with their own memories. Comments will be moderated by me before being allowed on the blog.
